With summer right around the corner, we thought it would be a good idea to show you the latest garden furniture trends for 2022. Getting out in the garden is a summertime favourite for many people up and down the country, but having the right furniture around really makes a world of difference! With this in mind, here are the most important garden furniture trends that you need to know about.

Indoor living outside

During the 2020 pandemic period, attitudes to outdoor living began to change dramatically. As a result, emphasis started to be placed on bringing indoor living to the outdoors, specifically to people’s garden areas. This means sofas, tables, cushions, rugs, ovens, washbasins and just about any other form of kitchen furniture you can think of have made their way into gardens across the country. This is a trend that we are going to see massively pick up, with outdoor construction and landscape gardening exploding in this particular sector.

With the summer months soon to come, this is an especially relevant trend. The great thing about bringing your indoor living space outside is also that you can pick and choose the aesthetic you most desire; from modern, farmhouse, traditional to rustic!

Recycle materials

Sustainability has become a huge trend for the 2022 season and is becoming increasingly important within the industry. The demand for sustainably sourced garden furniture has risen dramatically, and recycled material is now being used consistently for the purposes of producing quality garden furniture. Climate change and scarcity of available resources has made this a fascinating and incredibly important trend.

Tropical wood, such as acacia or teak, is extracted from out-of-date houses and boats, and has been recycled for use in the garden furniture industry for years. Plastic, processed and collected from sea or land, is also being used for seat shells and producing complete garden furniture. It’s clear therefore that we are going to start to see a lot more recycled materials being used in the coming year!

Urban jungle

The urban jungle trend has seen an abundance of plant life, instant hedging, exotic flowers, and floral motifs make its way into the garden and surrounding garden furniture. The idea here is to create a jungle aesthetic in your garden; this brings life to the garden area and the furniture that sits in it while encouraging the development of various garden wildlife, such as bumblebees, butterflies, and birds. It also allows you to cultivate an exotic area to your property where guests can feel like the aesthetic has totally transformed itself once they step outside.

Minimalism

Minimalism is a word that you are going to see cropping up a lot more as it relates to garden design and trends. Neutral tones are becoming synonymous with minimalism and the kind of professional aesthetic that people tend to go for when looking to create a minimalist garden design. If you’re the type of person that thinks less is usually more, this could be for you! Many minimalist garden designs use modern, elegant furniture with neutral colouration to create the desired look. Minimalist furniture and designs can be some of the most aesthetically pleasing for guests who come to your home, so don’t let the word put you off!
